East Doncaster Cricket Club
Community Based Cricket Club in East Doncaster
A club with a rich history
Established in 1886, the East Doncaster Cricket Club has always had a strong presence within the Manningham Community. Having grown from a small club back in the 1900's made up of mostly local fruit-growing families, it has matured into one of the most successful clubs in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Our on ground success has seen us secure almost seventy premierships including three Dunstan Shield flags in 2008/09, 2018/19 and 2020/21, as well as the development of dozens of junior representative players, some of whom have gone on to represent Victoria at an under age level.
As a sporting club we are strongly and actively involved in our local community developing partnerships with Onemda and Doncare, as well providing cricket clinics to many local primary schools. We are also very proud of our long standing partnership with the Doncaster East Community Bank.
In 2021/22 the club fielded four senior sides, including two playing turf on Saturdays, a Sunday turf side, one LOC Saturday team, an Over 50's Veteran side and an Over 60's Veteran side, which was the first time we entered a side in that age division. We fielded five junior sides, and continued to run the Woolworth's Cricket Blast programs for beginners.
We look forward to an exciting and successful season in 2022/23.Our Club

LOC 4 Premiers 2022!
Congratulations to our fighting 4th XI who pulled off an incredible win to take out the LOC 4 Premiership yesterday!
After many years of getting close, things were looking grim when we were bowled out for 86. But the boys never gave in and came from nowhere to roll Marcellin for 72.
Well done lads!
Dunstan Shield Premiers 2021!

Sparky was also named Captain of the Dunstan Shield turf team of the season. He's pictured here with ECA Turf Manager (and EDCC Life Member) Greg McLeod.
Congrats also to the following EDCC players for making the team of the season:

Zerbes was also named 3rd best turf ground, coming in after Tormore Rd Reserve (Boronia) and Marcellin 2 Oval.
A fitting finale to our season!

EDCC Ladies Lunch! This was the third year that we've held this event, and what a wonderful day it was! We had around 50 ladies attend, including reps from our fundraising recipients Pines Learning - acting GM Sue and Employment Pathways Coordinator Jenny. Jenny spoke about the programs that they offer to the community, including a new course to help people navigate to a new Covid normal. So great that we can help fund this program from our lunch!
We were also treated to an amazing speech by Mikaela Welti that left all of us thinking about how women are portrayed in sport. Mikaela spoke about gender norms, expectations for girls, overcoming barriers, how words can hurt, and how you can still achieve your dreams regardless. So inspirational! Thank you so much Mikaela.
Thanks so much to our organising committee for this day - Lisa, Gabby, Jenny, Nicky, Louise, Mel and Amber.
We raised $3,070 for Pines Learning which is an amazing effort and extremely appreciated by the organisation! 💙💙
EDCC thanks its sponsors for their valuable support.
Bendigo Bank – Our Long-Standing Sponsor
A big thanks to our long-standing sponsor Community Bank Doncaster East and Templestowe Village, who have since 2005 contributed over $250,000 to the East Doncaster CC.
